Today Erik send us the latest beta for CD-DVD Speed. The upcoming v3.00 will support error checking with various drives (!) among with interesting testing features, like Jitter reporting with NU-Tech drives. First lets see whats new:

Erik said that the following drives are supported:

- All NU-Tech drives (but only latest 3 models can report jitter)
- All Lite-On drives
- Most MSI drives but Sanyo based drives probably not. There is some basic support for Sanyo based drives but that doesn't work always.
- BTC DRW1108IM and maybe a few other BTC drives
- To be expected: BenQ and Philips

, and notes: "...Combo and DVD-ROM drives from these brands are fully supported (not just DVD burners). But some of them are very inaccurate unfortunately..."

As it seems CD-DVD Speed doesn't handle read errors and stops scanning...

The results are nicer now, but the Disc score is zero (0), however the disc is working fine with DVD players...

Quick Conclusion:

CD-DVD Speed v3.00 *suffers* from poor graphs, compared with KProbe v2.xx. You cannot zoom in/out neither change scale/remove max values, combine charts and several other options. It does however support a variety of drives from various brands making it unique (at least with today’s information) at its field. The "Disc Score" number seems not very useful to judje a disc, since takes a rather scrict policy with C1/C2/PI/PO errors.
