There is one: "Not interested at all..."
What you say its more or less correct, even with quality 4X DVD media and the apropriate burner you can have quality burns, the basic problem would be how long the media will last...
I wouldn't say that I am not interested in DVD-9 ... my personal opinion is quite contrary.
But from various media I have checked out with my LiteOn 411S (thanks god I sold it over EBay and got myself a NEC2500), even unquestionable quality media like YUDEN000T01 has it's issues with several write devices.
I feel that manufacturers are moving along way too fast without gaining real experience in DVD writing as it was the case with CD-R some years ago. I know that DVD writing is a far more demanding task towards media and write device quality so I feel the need for some slowdown in development towards more thorough tuning ...
What kind of sense does it make to produce a 4x write device that will fail on 75% of all media, regarding PI/PO and, at the same time, talk about 16x recording and Dual Layer DVD9 ? Not much, if you ask me.
LiteOn, as an example, stopped Firmware development of the LDW-x11S series after some 6 months ... that is a slap in the face of all people who bought these products and will leave them alone with nothing - take a look at the cdfreaks LiteOn forum ... even the hardcore LiteOn zealots over there are beginning to show skepticism ...
