Ok. so i just got my liteon 24x burner and i put it in my old system temporarily to i get a new rig. set it up...burn a cd, but lags my pc bad (p2 300mhz 96mb ram). So i remember it supports DMA, so i enable that from device manager..and reboot...but windows stops loading. so i try every combo of master/slave and then i try using it solo, but no go. one time when it froze while booting winME, i unplugged the IDE from the liteon and windows started loading! so I can't disable DMA through device manager cause the thing ain't in there cause the win won't start with it plugged in. I tried to find it in the BIOS but i have a Gateway and the BIOS is child-proof and there's really no options to fiddle with. So tell me; is the reason it won't boot because of the DMA? and if so, how can I disable the DMA? (without device manager or the lame BIOS i have) THanks for the the help - TY
