Hi there
I have used ClonyXXL in conjunction with CloneCD in 98SE successfully without any problems. Touch wood!!
I recently installed XP Pro on my 2nd HDD and started to install my favourite programs on as well.
After installing ClonyXXL (English version 2.0.0.6) a message came up along the lines of NO ASPI LAYER detected. Does this mean Clony won't work in XP or do I have to update something. I have 2 x IDE drives, Sony 52X CDROM and a Ricoh MP7200A 40x20x10 CDRW which as I said before work without hassle in 98. I also use Nero.

Thanks for any advice. It is appreciated.
Cheers
Conrad

You need an ASPI Layer to use ClonyXXL, just go to www.adaptec.com and download one. Some say version 4.60 is best for XP. You should check the FAQ section of the forum for more info

I have a similar problem - had it running ok on W98SE but not on XP Home Edition. When I run it, it crashes. Run it again and it says it will start without the ASPI Layers and opens up ok. If I disable the ASPI Layers under Options, it opens up ok. I have the latest ASPI installed (V4.71) yet can't seem to get round the problem. WNASPI32.DLL is in C:\Windows\System32 and ASPI32.SYS is in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers. Are these all I need and are they in the right place?

    Hi gamicks
I have seen loads of reports on the 4.71 Aspi causing problems with XP so the easiest thing is to use the ASPI FIX just go to :-
    http://www.cdrinfo.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6059
And download it and follow the Instructions on the .txt file and Install it. Aspi 4.60 is still the most stable version for XP so untill Adaptec get things sorted out keep away from it !!!
    I hope this Helps !!!

    Hi Laffin Assassin,

Thanks for the tip. Tried it and ClonyXXL now works like a dream with no crashes.
It just goes to show that upgrading to the latest version of a driver is not necessarily the best idea.

    Thanks again

    Hi,
I got clony xxl running on XP and installed the aspifix.
the aspicheck says v. 4.60 is installed and runs properly, but clony xxl does not find the aspi drivers.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hey,

I am running ClonyXXL 2.0.0.6 on Windows XP SP1 and have no extra ASPI drivers installed and Clony works just fine. Is there some added functionality to having Adaptec drivers? Thanks!
