I have just had a reply from Yamaha after I sent them an E-mail with this Question
"Please can you give me an Idea of the expected price of the
Yamaha CRW-F1 in the Uk."
And they replied very quickly with
----------------------------
Dear Sir

The price will be 200 Euro

So that means the Yamaha F1 will be about 128.361 now if that includes V.A.T I am not sure but if it dosen't that still makes them under 150. Which makes them a lot cheaper than I expected.

I heard that they will be $159.99 US. Don't know if that's true or not.

That price would be excelent. But as usual I suspect that us poor sods in the UK will have the price bumped by suppliers. Still, the SCSI version (whenever that may be out and whatever price its at) is still on my shoppin list.

Hi Cyberguru
Yes I agree with you some suppliers bump up the price in the UK. Usualy the best deals for hardware are Dabs.com they always seem to get the new stuff quick and are not over the top with the price. But the reason the suppliers usualy have to charge more than most countries is our damed Government charging 17.5% V.A.T on every thing we buy!

What about Australian suppliers??? They still have the Plextor 40X for $380 AUD at its cheapest

Imagine the CRW-F1 - it draws pictures - =$500 AUD probably... not cool

And yet the Lite-On LTR-40125S/W can be had here for as little as $149 AUD which equals $83.77 USD as of current exchange rate....

Where will you buy from Newegg and stuff don't ship outside the U.S.

Can you give me a website? Can you just pay by American Express, is that what you do

*rather buy from the States, cause everything is wayyyyyyyy cheaper there, compared here *

I have just had another e-mail from Yamaha
And it now says "The new CDR-F1 will be avalaible by the end of this month. "
So it does look like they are not going to Release it on the 15th July as they originaly said.

Well in the US, one site does have the product listed. Prices don't seem too bad.

www.sparco.com do a search for "crw-f1". A couple of the products listed have an ETA of 7/25 which supports the email from Yamaha. Of course I don't know if the UK get's components earlier or later than the US.
