Just got the new ASPI version and had a llok at the ASPICHK that comes with it.

This only shows that I have (Win98SE) the follwoing files:

wnaspi32.dll
apix.vxd

whereas if I use my old version of ASPICHK it has those plus:

winaspi.dll
aspienum.vxd

So, is this some error or are those last two not really needed? Would anything bad happen if I deleted them?

The latest adaptec ASPI package upgades to the latest versions which are:
ASPI32.SYS-----Version 4.71.1
WOWPOST.EXE----Version 4.6 (1021)
WINASPI.DLL----Version 4.6 (1021)
WNASPI32.DLL---Version 4.71.1
So if you are thinking it should make all four files 4.71.1 don't worry they are all still the latest available.

can you tell me please please what to do to have aspi installation succed?
(I tried without files winaspi.dll and wowpost.exe. too, and tried all 4.6.0. - never succed.)
Before installng aspi I did killaspi.bat from frcaspi17 to clear old aspi data.
I have windows XP pro!!! Thanks for any help.

I have just e-mailed you a zip file It is only 249k.
Just unzip it into a folder and follow the instructions and that should cure your problems with ASPI ! Please let me know on the forum how it goes!!

but I'm surprised I still :((( can't rip audio cds ... due to ASPI error (Audiograbber1.7)!!!
I suspect the problem is my cdrom drive, that cant work in dma mode (only pio)!!! I've read dma is required to rip under Xp - is it true???. Would someone be so kind please and set his IDE cdrom drive into pio and rip track, so I would make sure is the pio mode problem while ripping under XP!!! !!!


ps: maybe should I use another ripper - which one? (I've tried Cdex1.30 - _empty_!!! wav file was written to disc, the same that I had without consistent aspi installation).

please help :)

Should I upgrade to aspi 4.71? If so I'm running XP Home, could you email me that please? I'm not currently having any problems though, does it fix something in particular?

You Have E-mail !!!
I know that 4.71 has called a lot of problems for a lot of people and when they have tried to swap back it has caused even more problems. The little file I have just sent you allows you to upgrade to any version you want and it includes the 4.60 which I think is still the most Stable in Windows XP.
