I'm currently considering the Lite-On 24102B, TDK 24/10/40VeloCD, LG 8160B and the Yamaha CRW3200.

Lite-On looks really good value. How do you guys find them? Are they reliable?

Search for the model number in the formun and read what people say. Lots of problems with the 24102B about the tray staying out.

I purchased the 32x12x40 and it has worked like a dream......I would not get the 24102B given the problems people have had.

Read all the reviews and determine what you want to do and choose. But for price I could not go pass liteon.

I have the 32x12x40 by Buslink/made by Liteon and it works great, only thing it wont do is read some protected audio cd's
A friend bought a LG after I got mine because he wanted to make always working backups and he just returned it to get a Liteon also, now he's happy.
The rumour is Plextor readers will read the protected audio audio cd's then you'd be covered for most needs.
I got mine for 130 US and they can be had cheaper online, The 40 is sposed to do all the same things so you might want to condider it also.

Dartman why did he return the LG? It's another one I'm considering.

He made a ISO of his copy of XP to use on one of his machines and when he burned it it would error out during decompression somewhere in the install, always the same spot.
The Liteon apaerently burned it and no problems from the same iso.
I told him to get a liteon but they assured him at the place he got it that the LG would do everything the Liteon would, they took it back without argument.
