When I burn a cd (an audio, data or video cd it is the same problem)
When the burning is finish and lead-out appears the buffer is empty and the timer stops, the lights on the cd goes off, but the cd seems to spin. The the write window is totally hanged, the drive is not responding, there are no error or sucessful message, i can't even close the box. If I wait 8 min, Nero shows a couple of error and now I can close the box and the cd ejects. Now the cd-rw drive is reponding again. Also it happens even in a sumulation, even if i click Cancel. Even though it says it can't finish writing the cd seems to be good. It works in every cd-rom drive I have , in every sound system and even in my DVD player.

I tried with every compination of DMA on/off Auto-insert, etc. I even renamed files in IOSUBSYS. I unistalled every burning program, uninstalled nero and re-installed it. This does not happens with others programs (CDRWIN and PrassiPRIMO CD). I have the latest firmware and i I know my drive is supported by Nero. This does not happens if I choose the image recorder.

You mention uninstalling and renaming conflicting drivers, but the Nero log file still list a number of drivers that can cause this.

Try renaming the Below files to .bac and see if this resolves your issue.

I tried to do a DataCD and it didn't work. The New Nero isn't up yet, but I tried with an older version and version 5.5.6.9. I found it somewhere, even though it wasn't an official release. It didn't change a thing.

hi, i got the same problem using a liteon 24102b with all teste nero versions 5564 5569 and 5572 at all burning speeds. my 16x liteon works fine thought with all versions. maforget got an erromsg after 8 minutes, i can wait 30 mins nothing happens until i press reset. i also tried running it with my burner connected ot my ide raid controller no diffrence.
my system is :
epox kha8+ // winxp with necessary hotfixes applied

Hi DME,

This does not look good. But before I make any suggestions, I would like a little more information.

Are you able to duplicate this with any write operation? Data, Audio, etc, or only when creating Video CD's?

And I assume at the end of your writes, the CD is not usable or any good, unlike what another has reported here?

I do not think you two have the same issue, though you have similar symptoms.

Did you try renaming the files I listed?

Can you test Nero on another computer, with the same Recorder, just to see if this issue is isolated to this one computer?

Can you provide a complete list of drivers you have loading in your C:\Windows\Systems\IoSubsys directory?

First of all, I did renamed those files and it didn't do a thing. I tried with an AudioCD, a VideoCD, a DataCD and even doing an image and burning it. It didn' change a thing. And the problem is the same, because my drive does respond even the burn box doesn't respond. And if I close Nero with the task manager the drive doesn't respond either, I have to restart the computer. I also found out that when the CD is done and the drive is Idle (even if it doesn't say it I know it Is) and I use a pin to eject the cd,Nero display a message that there is no cd in the drive and I can Close Nero normally and the drive continues responding. I also tried new blank cd's (I was using Memorex 80min and now I'm using Maxell 74min). And it didn't change anything. Also I have a ASUS P5A Motherboard with ALi Alladin Chipset and I had The IDE Drivers version 3.00. I downloaded version 3.40. And I had so many problems, it installed things I didn't have on my computers. I now had 5 CD-ROM drives. When the drivers installed they crash the computer. I didn't have any display just a black screen with the install driver box. After I deleted all those things the computers was running so slow, it thook 2min for the start menu to open. I then reverted to windows default drivers. And the Same problem happens.

Here is the IOSUBSYS folder. (the m5229.mpd file for my IDE drivers are now replaced by the ESDI_506.pdr file for the Windows drivers in the systems manager.)

Oh and an other thing

The only difference I saw when using the Windows IDE drivers instead of the ALi drivers is that the Windows drivers don't support UltraDMA and therefore, the DMA box always deselect when restarting. The 8 min things does the same thing.

My theory is that after a couples of minutes of being idle my drive goes to sleep and Nero Is waiting for a command and when the drives goes to sleep, Nero stops waiting because the drive is off. It must be caused by the fact that Nero gives a command to go to stop the cd and then gives an others command, but the drive is already finish. Hence, the Command Sequence error. And after that it tries to start writing on the cd and It sees that the cd is close and it cannot continue. Hence, the Invalid Writestate Error.

Why is that I don't know I hope u will found out a way to correct it. Is it my drivers or Nero?

And I can't try it on an other computer. All my other computers are all very very old MACs (Actually the MAC SE).

Please go into Nero's File>Preferences>Expert, and enable the "Don't Eject CD when Done" Feature

Also, disable Auto Insert Notification for your recorder.

I already had auto-insert notification off, if not I have a SCSI target error at the beginning.
And for the do not eject CD box, the only thing it changes is that after the 8 min wait and I press Discard. The CD does not eject when returning to the main window (As it did before)

Well, we've gone over all the obvious cause, and no resolution.

What Hard Drive, CDROMs, DVDROMs and Recorders do you have on your system, and how are the physically connected?

Do you have any Zip drives or Scanners, or any other unique devices connected to the system?

And just to see if this is isolated to this computer, do you have another computer you can take Nero and the recorder too to test?

i ve the problem with all cd formats data video audio , auto insert notification is off and the cds ARE readable no problem @ all. it s just that i have to reboot to get the cd out the recorder :) or wait wait wait....
with the same burrner in 3 other pcs the problem is restricted to mine noone else had those with my burner.
i m using epox kha8+ board/ duron 1000/ 2 x 60 gig wdc wd600a hdds/teac 32 scsi cdrom+ plextor 32 cdrom connected with a tekram dc390 controller/24x liteon and 16x liteon burners/ no other drives.

the ide drives are connected as follows:
2 hdds on primary onboard ide controler and the 2 burners on secondary onboard controller where the 24x is master 16 x slave.
i ve also tried out connection only the 24x the 24x on primary...and even connection the 24 alsone to the onboard conroller and the hdds to a seperate ide raid controller andthee other way round.

i m using via 4in1 137 dma is enabled for both hdds and burners.

But no ZIP drives or Scanners on the system?

No programs running in the background? Use the Task Manager to close all but SysTray and Explorer.

Otherwise, we need to play a game of "Isoloation".

First try disconnecting the TekRam SCSI card.

Then work your way down. Changes cables, etc....

You've already try chaning the Recorder from Secondary to Master, and on the Secondary IDE bus changing it from Master to Slave?

As for me I have a Scanner (CanoScan D646U-usb)and a External Zip DRive (100Mo - Parallel). Also a Logitech WingMan RumblePad (USB). I tried with both USB devices Unplugged and The IOMEGA software uninstalled (the zip is still there in system manager).
It doesn't change a thing.

My Burner is on Secondary IDE on Master. And My Harddrive is on Primary IDE on MAster and my CD-ROM on Primary IDE Slave. My Burner Is Cicero but it's really a Matshita CW-7586 (Panasonic?) It's what the computer is saying but I didn't look on the drive when I installed it. But I'm pretty sure it's a Panasonic because on there site the picture is the same as mine. Someone send me a e-mail telling me that it had the same problem and it was a problem with the Ali chipset. Because she had 2 yamaha and it made the same thing. So the problem is with the Ali Aladin chipset in Nero, because there is no problem with other programs.

So Graig if you are reading this, then Ahead should look in it.

Also if there is a way to correct this with a patch that will not put my computer upside down tell me. I have a ASUS P5A.
