hey i was wondering if excessive burning can cause a burner to mess up or get damaged?? Please Reply

Of course it does. Like any other machine it has moving parts and its laser won't last for ages.

i mean is it possible that a burner can die out on you within a year for burning a lot?

Of course. Depends upon the MTBF that each manufacturer gives for the drive.

I believe that you'll be able to continue burning without problems for at least one year. My Ricoh 7060S burner is still going strong after many many CD burns in 2 years. What I do is to run a lens cleaner CD every month to clean out dusts from inside the burner. All it takes is just 5 minutes as the CD does it's job.
