it reads everything and it screams. i can copy sd2 on-the-fly reading from the 163 and burning to my liteon 24x at full speed. it also is as fast as they get at dae. there's a review on the cdrinfo main site you should check out. can't beat the price either.

Woah, interesting, I have a LTD-163 and a LTR24102B and I was under the impression that I would have to use the burner to make image files of protected CDs... So what ur saying is that I can use my LTD163 to make a working image of any protected CD just like the LTR24102B can given that I use the correct settings? What should I set the fast error skipping settings to, does the drive use hardware like the burner or is it software controlled for the 163? Thanks

set fes to 0 retries and it will default to hardware correction. the ltd-163 is an even better reader than the 24102b. hard to believe, isn't it?

LTD-163 probably is better than LiteOn 32x at least in the DAE tests

My LTD-163 still doesn't even 'touch' my PleXWriter 24/10/40 in SD2.
But the newest firmware, GH5E, makes it 5secs faster at SD2 though :)

Its a decent reader.
Doesn't live with my Plex 241040A or Toshiba SD-M1502.
They can read Max Payne in under 3 minutes.
