I have a HP CD-Rewriter plus and I'm using winXP.
I have installed CDRWIN and the program doesn't find the device because it's missing the ASPI drivers.
I never had this problem before (win98) and can anybody help me?

Thanks.

better still, use this version:
http://support.tekramusa.com/support2.nsf/0/53e0e85676ef7ddb88256903006abede/$FILE/aspiinst.exe
to force aspi on your system and then get this version:
http://support.tekramusa.com/support2.nsf/0/53e0e85676ef7ddb88256903006abede/$FILE/aspiinst.exe to update it to the latest version. ignore any and all warnings about not installing it on me, win2k, or xp. it works like a breeze.

i don't believe tha forceaspi installs the latest version, unless they've updated it. aspichk should report the version as 4.60 (1021). by all means, please correct me if i'm wrong.

Yes I have forceaspi 1.7 which does install aspi 4.60 1021 as confirmed by aspicheck . I wish roxio/adaptec would update it though as i think it;s 2 years old and there could almost surely be improvements made , at least with winxp . Although it does seem to work good enough on xp but they could probably make it better.

thanks for the info jb. i wasn't aware that forceaspi had been updated to that version. aspi is a pretty simple interface so not much could be improved as far as that's concerned. most of the updates i believe have been to provide support for new operating systems. about all i can tell about it is that it works or it doesn't work. i think the best solution would be for microsoft to include a complete aspi layer with it's operating systems.
