I have made perfect copies with my 16x Plexwriter. I wasn't able to do so until I used Amplify Weak Sectors. I have made copies of ;

OPERATION FLASHPOINT
MYST III : EXILE
MS FLIGHT SIMULATOR 2002
MS TRAIN SIMULATOR

All work perfectly, See my other posts for info. Let me know if you need help with anything else. I do recomending the Plextor 24x as far as I know this copies everything without hassle.

I'm using firmware 1.03. New firmware 1.04 is now released but I have not used this as I haven't experienced any Problems with 1.03 as yet!

These are the settings I hope they help!!

Create cd image using these settings --->

select read sub channel data from data tracks.
select read sub channel data from audio tracks.
Select Fast Error Skip.
Set read retry to 5
set error correction to NONE.
Unselect Dont report bad sectors.
Unselect Bad Sector Scanner.

When ready to burn cd image use these settings----->

Select RAW DAO
Select DONT REPAIR SUBCHANNEL DATA
Unselect SIMULATE WRITING (if available)
Select BURNPROOF
Unselect PERFORM LASER POWER CALIBRATION
Unselect WAIT UNTIL BUFFERS ARE FULL
Select ALWAYS CLOSE LAST SESSION
Select AMPLIFY WEAK SECTORS
THEN BURN AND PLAY... I have the same drive and it worked for me.

Let me know how you got on....!

I'm unsure about the 8x. I can only let you know how I got on with my current drive the 16x. I've just ordered the liteon 24x, I hope this is a good move and not a bad move. I was thinking of purchasing the Plextor 24/10/40a but was adivsed to go for the Liteon, WHY? I have no idea. If anyone can let me know which is the better drive or if the liteon isn't as good then let me know asap so I can cancel and re order the plex 24x!!

Hi,
I have the 1210a, (I don't know the TLA #; Is there a way to find that without opening the case?), Firmware is 1.05 (I downgraded from 1.08 a week ago, BEFORE I tried the new CCD w/AWS).
I have successfully burned:
Diablo 2 and it's Expansion
Heroes of Might & Magic 3 Complete
Quake 2 ver. 3.20
Civ 3
StarWars B. G.
so far...
All work in Toshiba, Lite-On, and Memorex CDrom drives.
Yeah!
Hope this helps,
NightOwll

i don't know why but it happens and i'm sure that i've used the correct options for reading and writing so don't ask

Liteon24x!!! Why spend more when it does the same thing andprobability better. With the money you save buy at liteon 16x dvd then you can copy anything and with the rest of the money you saved buy a few hundred cdr's!!! Just use the dvd as the reader and you wouldn't have a problem!!!! I have the liteon24x burner it's great.
Happy Burning.
