HP has launched a new HP Mini netbook that's similar to its predecessor - the Mini 1000 - but includes additional USB and monitor ports. It also includes extra software, such as a program that synchronises files between PCs.

The HP Mini 110 runs Windows XP or HP's Linux-based mobile internet software. The netbook, which weighs 1.06kg and has a 10.1in screen, will ship worldwide this week. It will be available in black initially, but a white and pink model will follow soon.

While the UK price of the HP Mini 110 has yet to be revealed, the company announced that prices will start at $279 (£175) in the US - cheaper than most tier-one brand netbooks.

The new netbook is a response to the difficult economy and rising consumer concern about style, executives at the launch event said.
