This may be a silly question but CDRs that say they are for "audio" - can they be used reliably for data?

yes but they are usually more expensive then "regular" CDR for soem reason so just stick to the usual discs.

Also, audio CDRs are lower quality than pro ones, at least they are not designed for high-speeds...
