I still dislike all Liteon DVDRW's because of the long precalibration burn time and the finaliztion. I have 2 Liteons and all I ever use them for is scanning ( sometimes)

HELP!  I just bought from New Egg a Samsung SH-S203B.  I placed it in my Dell Dimension e510 and it does not want to recognize it as a DVD drive.  It also keeps asking me for printer driver when I boot up.  I put the latest firmware in it as it was the only thing I could find online.  I contacted Samsung and New Egg for software (which dvd drive did not come with) and they have not gotten back to me.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!!  Thank you for your time.

How are your SATA ports configured in the Dell e510?  If they are RAID only ports, don't expect much luck... Do you know what SATA chipset is drving the SATA ports on the Dell?  You may want to consult your manual or Dell and post back.  You may have to invest in a Silicon Image PCI based SATA card (3114 or 3512 based chipset).

Sith,

I must admit that I am getting the same results now out of my 203n using Nero to burn.  This is a fantastic drive.

I know... it's great with CD's, DVD's... Decent ripper, but there are better.  Great all around drive.  Glad you like it!

Does anyone know if this drive has undergone any hardware revisions? I am thinking of picking up a couple more and I want to be sure they have not changed and suck now. I remember the ones from Indonesia are supposed to be slightly better and that is where my first one from newegg was built.

Not aware of it and it is probably at end of life now since the announcement of the SH-S223 (22x speed drive)... I'd go for the 203B personally... they have new firmware (SB03) now.  It's a great drive no matter where it was manufactured.

No SB03 for the SH-S203N, just the SH-S203B.  Link is samsungodd.com... gotta use IE though to get it... Samsung won't play nice with Firefox.

Is a abstract painting titled "Liberty" by Paul Stanley...  Yes, the long time KISS front man... I change my avatar regularly so it may not be relevant in the future so I have posted a link to the original.

Ah, I can tell what it is now. A couple days ago the image didn't load properly and I could not discern what it was! It loaded like that more than once.

Does any one know what this model has different from a regular 203B - SH-S203B/BEBE? What is the BEBE for? Its on NewEgg.
