Plugged another SH-S203B in my Asus A8N-SLI (AMD X2) rig... looking forward to trying it out there!!!  Stay tuned for scans on nVidia's nForce4!

Hi,
do you have any problems to play DVD+RW Disks burned with SH-S203B on your home players? My Tevion DivX Player does not recognize disks burned with SH-S203B, on PC is everything fine. With NEC Drive I've no problem.

Best Regards!

No problems here... I have a fairly new Philips DVD player and a Toshiba that handle the few I've burned fine.  I have heard that some players may have issues because the jitter on some of the high speed burns is a little high... Slow 'er down to 12x for video and use Verbatim or TY media.

I have two drives... One made in Indonesia and the other made in the Philippines...  The Indonesia made drive performs marginally better.  I moved it from my Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe to my Asus P5B Deluxe WiFi/AP... to prove to myself that it was not just nForce SATA vs. AHCI... Here is a scan from the Indonesia drive burned @ 20x.

Thank you for reply! I have only problems with rewritable media (max. speed 4x). I've tried again on another writer - no problem. But SH-S203B is still write bad. Looks like Booktype is not set properly. Nero CD-DVD Speed shows DVD-Rom but who knows...
I will try send it back.

Cheerz!

Great stuff SithTracy: I just ordered another cause with free 3 day shipping, I don't think its wise to just have one LOL. In my opinion its the best 32.99 I ever spent on a DVDRW drive.

Hi
Welcome onboard Dummy_D.
Although Nero says it is auto setting bitset. Try manually setting each time with CD/DVDSpeed.
Another thing to try is this program:-

Hi,
thanks for your reply. I think, I found solution. The problem was opposite one. Burning ISO-Images Nero set DVD-Rom Bit automatically. I've tried to set manually to DVD+RW and burned an .avi file. And player has no problem with it. The same with ISO-Images.
Thanks again for your help, folks!

Cheerz!

Hi
SithTracy & Slyfox................................................
Only 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes only 2, I have so many other drives that I just cannot jusify the purchase of more like I did when I was buying the BenQ 16XX series drives, I have almost 20 of those, most still in the boxes unopened. I still love the BenQs but this drive has a step up on all of them. SATA and great firmware. Do you know what chip this Sammy uses Zeb?

For those who just want to now about the chip the drive is based on. It's from the  Mediatek range.

Hi
SithTracy & Slyfox................................................
Only 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For now... On vacation in the hot south (U.S.)... may order another when I get home!  2 is enough for now though.  I'm with Slyfox... one up on the BenQ DW1640!  Best drive I ever owned and I was once very critical of the Mediatek chipset... mainly because it was LITE-ON's flagship and I never cared for their DVD writers (LITE-ON CD-R drives were pretty darn good though).
