Yahoo Free Meedio based HTPC front-end with DVR capabilities Yahoo has just launched its Yahoo Go DVR software package, one week after acquiring home theater PC front-end software company Meedio LLC. The new DVR software package is based on Meedio technology, though the front end has been revised to Yahoo’s liking. Previously, Meedio charged a small fee for its software package, but Yahoo is offering the full Yahoo Go software for free. This should attract home theater PC users who find software packages such as Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 or Beyond TV a bit too expensive.
Much like Meedio before, Yahoo Go will allow users to view photos, watch videos, listen to music, and record/playback live television. Unlike some free software packages, there is no monthly fee associated with the DVR functionality, though a compatible TV tuner card is required. If you’re a previous Meedio user or would like to check out Yahoo Go, you can grab it
