Linux creator Linus Torvalds has announced the release of version 2.6.16 of the Linux kernel. Among the stand-out items that the open source community has identified are a clustering file management system that supports the moving of the physical location of pages between nodes; support for the Cell processor; support for dual core processors and a nod towards improving the power efficiency of select hardware including 64-bit processing. The open source community is overall impressed by this latest upgrade and the various Linux posting boards are generally supportive of the new version. Source : Computer Weekly
