In a strategic move designed to advance its position in the global market, Turbolinux, Inc., a worldwide leader of Linux-based solutions, today announced that it plans to establish its first Turbolinux Indian division in Gurgaon City, Haryana, India. Turbolinux India Private Limited (hereinafter called Turbolinux India) will be a joint venture between Turbolinux, Inc. and India Action Plan Company Limited (I.A.P.)

Under the terms of the joint venture agreement, Turbolinux will retain a majority share with 55% of the new company, while I.A.P. holds 45%. Total initial capital is 27.2 million Rupees (approximately USD $0.7 million). During the first year, Turbolinux India will comprise a staff of 15 employees.

"India is becoming a worldwide center for software development and has a high level of understanding and acceptance of open source software technologies," said Koichi Yano, president and COO of Turbolinux, Inc. "With our decision to launch a Turbolinux branch in India, a strategic midpoint in East Asia, we plan to leverage prevailing opportunities to expand the Linux platform throughout the entire region."

With a middle-class population of more than 100 million and a total population of over one billion, the demographics alone point to a Linux marketplace with high growth potential. Furthermore, due to an expert workforce of English-speaking engineers in India, Turbolinux India will be positioned as a vital center for developing flexible, open source products and computing solutions for the global market.

"India today is well-established and recognized as the global IT hub. The emerging trends are towards R&D centric activities and practices being established here. We believe that OSS without boundaries holds the key to power India to emerge as the next generation technology provider," said Vipul Kant Upadhyaya, group CEO and director of I.A.P. Company Limited. "Our competencies in software design, development and system integration, coupled with Turbolinux's expertise in OSS, offer an unparalleled combination. I.A.P. is committed to providing R&D, technical development and support facilities for the global rollouts of Turbolinux products."

Additionally, last year more than 100 Japanese companies visited India seeking diverse opportunities in India's burgeoning marketplace, which holds high potential for further business growth and investment. The subsequent entry of Japanese business entities into the Indian market will also engender robust growth opportunity for Turbolinux India, a subsidiary of Turbolinux, Inc., a Japanese corporation headquartered in Tokyo.

The preliminary mission of Turbolinux India is to:

-- 1) Establish Sales Centers throughout India;
-- 2) Create a Support Center for global English-speaking customers; and
-- 3) Launch a Development Center for products and solutions that benefit a global marketplace.
-- 4) Support IT infrastructures of Japanese companies new to the Indian marketplace.

Two years ago, Turbolinux began positioning itself for expansion in India, providing core operating systems and applications through hardware vendors and resale partners. Since October 2005, Turbolinux and I.A.P. have undertaken strategic planning efforts to launch Turbolinux India. I.A.P., a software leader with offices in Japan and India, is recognized for its pioneering embedded and enterprise solutions, and serves as a vital link for Japanese business interests in the Indian market.

Together with I.A.P., Turbolinux plans to fulfill its mission to become the preeminent force in open source software solutions throughout the world. Turbolinux India is planning to launch operations in April of 2006.
