TippingPoint, a division of 3Com and the leader in intrusion prevention, yesterday launched the first integrated security platform built upon intrusion Prevention System technology for Indian market. Revealing this to newsmen here, Company's Country Manager Sanjay Manohar said the product was predominantly used in the United States and in India it was being introduced for the first time. Explaining the features of the product, he said it was expected to add intelligence into the network by performing total packet flow inspection to block malicious traffic, throttle non essential traffic and prioritise mission-critical traffic regardless of the type of traffic inspected; voice, data or video. It would be a comprehensive enterprise solution that significantly reduced the administrative, financial and management burden of multiple point solutions, he added. The company saw tremendous potential for promoting the product and had chalked out an aggressive strategy to make a significant business over the next 18 months. The market size was expected to increase from US dollars 540 million to over US dollars six billion in next three years, he added. Replying to queries he said the company planned to invest in future on the existing development centre at Hyderabad by adding more number of engineers and creating infrastructural facilities. The centre had 80 engineers now and the number would be crossing over 400 in a short term, he added. Source : NetIndia123
