It certainly is not restricted to the Abit boards - I have the same tray ejecting problem with my Epox board and 24x10x40.
Tried everything suggested (except latest withdrawn bios) - problem comes back.

Ok, the point.

I've tried all reset tricks with IDE/Power cables
All Bios from 5s07 to 5s57.exe
I've tried the jumper for diagnostic/reset mode
I just have to try the hammer trick now.

Waynus: dont up/downgrade the firmware, it will not change anything...

i had trouble with my 24102b writer ........ i just put it in a box and took it back , got a refund and bought an lg 16x writer ...... since then i've had no trouble and because you need a damn good system to even try to write at 24x the new burner is kicking audio cd's out faster than the 24x

my advice to anyone thinking of a liteon is

with all the bad reports that get posted is it worth trying a 24x when you get perfectly good results with a 16x and its only about 30 seconds slower?

good luck to all who fall into the LITE-ON trap

love and light

I think he's trying to "bump" this thread to keep it on top.

In regards to the tray lockup problem could anybody try this and see if it works for you?

If tray is locking up and written discs are not being accepted switch off the computer and then hold down the tray eject button for a few seconds and then reboot the machine and see if it then works

If this works it would suggest that the problem may be down to residual charge inside the drive and also it's easier to do than opening the machine and pulling IDE sockets all the time!

Hope it works anyway
