i bought a pack of the maxell cd-r pro's and my computer is recognizing them as blank cd's, but it reads the capacity of the cd's as 0.0 MB.  i've tried burning with nero, alcohol 120, and windows built-in, but all say to insert a cd with sufficient space.  i have a nec nd-5100a dvd/cd burner and am running xp pro.  any help or anyone else with this problem?

You'll need to uninstall DirectCD or InCD, whichever you have installed.  Also make sure you have ASPI installed, and Windows Burning disabled.

no firmware required or available for my burner...

i disabled windows burning in the registry, installed aspi, but i can't figure out how to rid myself of directcd.
it might not even be installed, i cant find any trace of it, i'll probably just format my computer tomorrow and see if that doesn't fix all problems anyway.  thanks for the help though

are you running the "hide CD-R" option in Alcohol 120% or similar software?

Go into Alcohol 120%'s settings and DISABLE the hide CD-R setting.

hide cd-r option is disabled....

today i got tired of messing with the cd-r pro's and decided to just get some regular cd-r's... same problem

i guess it has nothing to do with them being cd-r pro's, the problem just started with them.... which sucks more bc now i can't burn anything, any help?

The problem is almost certainly purely software related. The only other alernative is that it could be your burner has died.
