Web search leader Google Inc. on Thursday introduced a personalized Google home page, moving in a direction rivals such as Yahoo Inc. and Microsoft Corp.'s MSN portal have already have charted.

The personalized Google home page integrates other already available Google features, such as its e-mail service Gmail, news, weather, stocks, driving directions, movie listings and the like.
While Google has long said it had no interest in becoming a portal and luring users to spend much of their Internet time on the Google site, its move on Thursday puts it in even more direct competition with Yahoo and Microsoft, among others.

"We really hope to have this not necessarily be a platform ... but rather to help users navigate the Web better," said Marissa Mayer, director of consumer Web products for Google.

The Mountain View, California-based company said it also offers a broad inclusion of content, such as the BBC, the New York Times, tech news Website Slashdot, Quote of the Day and Word of the Day.

Google's rivals in search, Yahoo and Microsoft, have long offered personalized home pages on which users can customize news, weather, stocks, television listings, movie listings and more.

Google said its personalized home page is only available now in a beta, or test, version at http://labs.google.com
In one to two months, Google will offer the capability for the personalized Google page to add universal RSS feeds. RSS stands for really simple syndications, which lets users aggregate multiple news and information sources onto a single display on their PCs, Mayer said.

The classic Google home page -- which is a search entry box with other options to search images, news and the like -- remains available and users can toggle between the personalized home page and the traditional one, Mayer said.

Shares of Google rose 2 cents to close at $239.18 on Nasdaq.

And I am even more curious whether their shares will rose even further (to at least some $250)...because in that case I would become a Millionaire...(Havent I mentioned before that I have 5000 shares of Google)....

No no no Ionian....its not THAT EASY....because....We (Google's shareholders) dont really care about our users....for spenders(i.e. advertisers) yes....but for You toolbar-geeks?...hell noooooooo....want money? from us? HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA....no no no...you rather be happy that we dont have some hidden text in our EULA....cause in that case....WE will be the one who will sue You all....and YOU will GIVE US money....

Buy shares, like I did a while ago...only then you could enjoy your earnings....(or loses)....hhahhaahaha...

But seriously....dont know about toolbar earnings...you need to check it out at their website....really dont know....

is that it: http://www.google.com/ig

and SF, you don't really need all those shares now do you. why don't you just give 'em all to me (or put another way: 'share' them). think about it. it makes perfect sense!

but anyway, at $239 you're already a $$$millionaire$$$. right?

No sharing semo...people like You would need to work much more (and not just talking,talking,talking....) in case You like to have some shares...and after that...since I am 99.99% sure You will certainly found something strange about them (being cinic as you are)...then...You may do as you said I should do...SHARE THEM....could be with me....with CDRinfo team....or even better....give them to some charity...ok?

And about me being millionaire...yes on paper maybe...but you kinda forgot (how could that happen to You I wonder...), that after selling them...you need to pay taxes and so on (I dont blame You that You didnt knew that - because probably You dont even pay taxes )....  So....after all that...I am again under $1M mark....

Anything else?

ENJOY!
