I've done some tests lately on my Pioneer DVR A07XLA DVD RW drive with CDSpeed and the "DAE quality" test gives me "0" quality on several audio CDs that used to give me "10" on my previous drive (a Plextor Premium CD drive.)  I tried configuring the drive as both "slave" and "master" on it's IDE channel, and tried it as the only device on the IDE channel as well, but it always behaves the same way.  Does this point to a problem with the drive?

Thanks,

Larry

It's a standard ATA133 cable.  The hard drive on this same cable works fine, and I tried swapping the two devices on the two connectors as well.  The hard drive still works fine, and the DVD drive still has the same behavior.

Thanks again,

Larry

Some discs give better scores than others, but the point is that these discs ALL give me DAE scores of "10" on the other drive.  I could see "some" difference between drives being normal, but to go from a "10" all the way to a "0" seems like a sign that something is wrong, doesn't it?

Thanks,

Larry

I'm not sure what test you're thinking of, but 10 is the highest score you can get in CDSpeed for the "DAE Quality" test.

Nero 6.x (I believe the latest version.)  As far as the actual version of CDSpeed goes (which is what counts here), I tried both 3.80 and the version that came before this.
