I have been using Nero 5 + INCD ver.3.3.9.0 for some time now and have been very happy with packet writing to a LG GCC-4480B CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-ROM Read drive.

I decided to take advantage of the larger capacity offered on DVD +RW so I recently purchased a Toshiba 106D (firmware 1.0.6) which offered DVD-RW together with DVD+RW writing capabilities.

I downloaded an evaluation copy of Nero 6 together with INCD 4.0.1.21

Unfortunately INCD refuses to format either my new Sony CD-RW discs or new Ricoh 1-2.4x DVD+RW discs on the Toshiba. I have tried a number of each and they all fail with error dialogue 'Error writing the disk in I:\. Please confirm that the disc is compatible with the drive and is not scratched or damaged'

I can write Ricoh +R dvd's on the Toshiba using Nero 6 without any problems, the drive is being reported correctly using Nero Info Tools and interestingly will write happily to my Sony CD-RW discs previously formated on my LG burner using INCD 3.3.9.0

Please, can anyone help to resolve my problem.

Can you provide the log files of InCD 4 after you make a format attempt? (Log files location is described in the FAQ installed in the program folder of InCD)

Edit: I cannot found a toshiba device named "106D". Toshiba devices seems to be starting with SD-R or SD-M. Can you provide the exact name of your device?

Thanks for your offer of assistance. I have done some more checking since my original post so will bring you up to date on my findings:

Sorry for the original error - the drive is of course a Pioneer 106D and not as stated a Toshiba. This I believe is an OEM version of the Pioneer DVR - A06

Both drives are fully reported using Nero Info Tool.

First of all there is certainly a backward compatibility issue between INCD 4.0.1.21 and 3.3.9.0.
With 3.3.9.0 the LG writer works fine and formats and writes either with or without MRW support.
With 4.0.1.21 the LG writer will not format and displays 'Error writing the disk in I:\. Please confirm that the disc is compatible with the drive and is not scratched or damaged' Discs previously formatted in 3.3.9.0 can however be written to quite happily.

The above tests were carried out on a fairly level playing field with no system changes other than uninstalling ver. 3 and installing ver. 4 together with associated reboots after the uninstall and reinstall.

Secondly, the Pioneer 106D is simply not recognised as existing by INCD ver. 3 although it is recognised by Nero 5.5.10.42 itself and I can burn +R and +RW discs in Nero 5.
The Pioneer 106D is recognised along with the LG when using INCD ver. 4, however, will not format either CD-RW or DVD+RW and of course the LG now fails in the same manner.

As I have at least had some luck with INCD ver.3.3.9.0 I would like to test with the final version of INCD 3.x.x.x. Perhaps it would recognise my Pioneer 106D. I am unable to find this anywhere on Nero's site.

Can anyone point me to where I can get hold of a copy of the final version of INCD 3.x.x.x

Thanks to a forum member who kindly sent me a copy of INCD Ver. 3.5.24.0 I can now report this final version responds in a similar fashion to Ver. 3.3.9.0. - it fails to recognise the existence of the Pioneer 106D but works fine with the LG CD-RW.

Ok, I have a Pioneer DVR-106D sample now with fw 1.06. I confirm that InCD 3.x does not support this device. But with InCD 4 I was able to format (1x) DVD-RW (verbatim), highspeed CD-RW (philips), and 2.4x DVD+RW (verbatim). I am unable to reproduce your problem Bruce.

As you have an error message "'Error writing the disk in I:\. Please confirm that the disc is compatible with the drive and is not scratched or damaged'" there should be more in the error.log file than what you posted. As you said that you are reluctant to post the remaining, can you e-mail it to me so I can have a look at the full log file?

I am also having similar problem with Pioneer 106d
INCD4 does not launch when a new blank Traxdata CDRW 10x is inserted.
I can see contents of old CDRW files but cannot do anything with them.

It writes CDR & DVD -R without any problems but,after a R or RW media is inserted & ejected the all drives go dead until I reboot.

When tring to rebooting windows reports shutting down INCD_GUI...... then hangs, have to
hard reset the pc.
