Hi,

what is the best (for writing quality) of this two?

3520_3.22_RPC+RL.rar (I-O Data) with RPC1 and Riplock removed

LD3520_1U9.zip Liggy's And Dee's NEC ND-3520 1.U9

I will use Verbatim Data Life Plus (or Advanced Azo) media, for my home dvd player (Sony DAV S-550)...

Depends upon what you want, NEC's stock firmware or hacked firmwares with users feedback?

But for the moment the only Fw that support PI/PIF Disc Quality Scanning is Liggy's And Dee's NEC ND-3520 1.UC...

I have just got my first dvd-burner, and I'm totally new within this field. I had ordered a Nec-3500a but got a Nec-3520a instead. So now Is the question, should I complain or be happy? I'm trying out Liggy's Dee's firmware, so hoping it will work. Have updatet my neo to 6.6 version. Have AnyDVD ver. 5.1.1.1 CloneDVD2 Ver. 2.8.2.1 And CloneCD ver. 5.2.1.1 so hoping it will help me a lot ;)

Sorry my language, I'm from Denmark ;)

i myself would be happy. the 3520 has faster write speeds for certain media standards and it is a newer model.

however, SOME people say the NEC 3500 is a TINY bit better than the 3520 as far as write quality. By TINY, i mean splitting hairs TINY.

I'm hoping that LD3520 1.UE (Liggy & Dee NEC ND-3520A firmware) works best for me. After initially failing to reflash using the drive connected via USB 2.0, I switched to Firewire and that did the trick. I switched back to the USB 2.0 connection, but am wondering if Firewire has advantages in normal, day-to-day use.
I got this drive as much because of the user support shepherded by emperor as for the good testing scores and capabilities.
My first pleasures have been in seeing this drive effortlessly read and rip sectors of "The Italian Job," "The Mummy," and a three film Hitchcock that had utterly stymied the Lite-On SOHW 1633S that came in this HP 810n.
