The first thing, sorry for my poor english.

I have a Packard Bell EasyNote E4 with DVDRW NEC 6500 A. The firmware is 4.5, i don´t know wether it is master or slave. When i bought it i didn't know, and in the shop either, that the NEC was able to record DL. I notice when recording a linux distribution in a DL DVD the Recordnow ask me for a DVD9. Since then i´m looking for a DVD DL which works with my 6500. I´ve tried PLATINUM(DL) and RICOH(DL) but none of them worked. I have read in several places that just works with verbatim. I would like to know if it's true because in the shops have only the pack of 5 and it is too expensive for trials. In other case which DVD's works with my 6500 or should i upgrade my firmware?

Probably you need to use a Verbatim DL media, will work 100%, can you please backup your firmware with Binflash (http://binflash.cdfreaks.com) and send it to me? I don't know if you upgrade your firmware with 2.23 your drive will continue working since such firmware revisions have reverse-ATA interface

As soon as i arrive home i'll try to send it to you. I don´t think it can be today as i'm not at home the hole day and haven´t the notebook here.

I think i won´t upgrade till i have a firmware which really works because everything but DL is working fine.

You're right i don´t know the reason for my head to think it was 4.5 when DVDInfoPro was saying it was 4.6.
