ASPI XP first hurdle - 5/15/2003 2:58:25 PM

I can't even get it to install using forceASPI !!!

It says:

The system cannot find the path specified
'\regedit.exe' is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Then it says "Done!" but it has not installed anything.

Is this some bonkers XP thing?

Looks like you're having an XP problem, and ASPI doesn't appear to have anything to do with it. Perhaps reinstall windows.

Perhaps Regedit has been removed?

Nobody has a good word to say about the full ASPI 4.71 - 4.60 seems to be the only version with any great success, so whil it may be tempting JUST to install the supposedly correct an current version by normal methods, it would probably be unrewarding.

Yes, I would DEFINATELY stay away from any ASPI above 4.60 on an XP Machine.

I agree with Matthew, also are you the system administrator? If not, perhaps he has regedit disabled also...just a thought

Thanks guys!

I am an Administrator and I've found regedit on the machine. I can open it and it seems ok - I don't like fiddling with it though.

Where would I get ASPI 4.60 in a forceASPI "package"?

Okay, I was gonna offer ya a good 4.60 ASPI installer, that also searches and removes any other ASPI on the drive first. But glad to see ya got it going!

It's not a link, just a file that I have in zip format. If you have a place to put it for download, I'll send it to ya! You just unzip the file, click on the executable file and it takes care of all the rest.
