Dell Korea on Wednesday unveiled what it says are three low-priced high-end laptop computers using Intel’s next-generation technology standard for notebook computers.

Dell last year released server PCs for around W500,000 (US$479) and laptop computers for less than W1 million.

Among the three new models, the D610 is the cheapest at a hefty W1.39 million - but that is still 30 percent lower than rival products with similar functions, as are the other two models.

Dell Korea CEO Kim Jin-goon said the company’s market share soared 200 percent in the third quarter of last year, when it started marketing the low-price models. The strategy of supplying quality products at low prices was working well in the Korean market, he said. Dell plans to launch an aggressive marketing campaign targeting small and medium-sized businesses.
