Hi all im new to this forum and am looking to see if anyone has had a chance to test out the new "Tuffdisc" range to see how they compare. I am currently using the Datawrite 8x printable grey fuji dye and am happy with them but as this new media is cheap enough and sounds like a good idea especially with manhandling kids about was looking fora review before i parted with my cash.

Cheers

They quite new so not many people have used them yet. However the general sentiment is that these disc are untrust worthy and the media code is suspect.

Btw this following thread might be of interest:

OK Cheers decx looks like there are some sceptics out there for this new scratch resistant gear. has anyone looked into any others out there like datawrite titanium etc. Also I have noticed alot of people talking about Taiyo Yuden media. Is this the best out at the mo as Ive not seen it anywhere or heard of it before??????

Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim (MKM) and TDK are absolutely the best.

But- a lot of cheap brands have "stolen" the manufacturer's ID code... so there are a lot of discs sayng "TY id code"....

Fuji discs are often made by Taiyo Yuden, and also the Verbatim "Pastel" dvd are usually made by Taiyo Yuden. Real TY, I mean.

Bye!

To be on the safe side, buy ONLY BRANDED MEDIA.

If you need Verbatim media (dye), buy Verbatim branded media... and so on....

Since the ID code is so "abused" by low-grade manufacturers, the only way to be sure is go for BRANDED media.

That's my opinion.

By the way, a lot of people here think Princo is very good media.... seems lot of people like ****...

The media code on many bad media isn't necessarily fake, but more likely those media are lower grade discs that couldn't be sold under the premium/A grade brand. These discs are often bought by other companies and sometimes overprinted (as probably is the case with Tuffdisc), then resold under a third party brand, all the while promoting the media code, to unsuspecting buyers.

Yes, decx is right.
He described the figure exactly.

Yet, there are some "brands" or "no-brand" that actually "stole" the ID...

Thats nice to know at the moment im using this media http://www.ukdvdr.co.uk/shop/product.php?productid=17346&cat=260&page=1

Which has been fine and not had one bad disc yet, but saying that im a bit of a perfectionist so would a verbatim disc give me a better picture, sound, durability????
