Dethroner -> MadDog MD-16XDVD9 (NEC ND-3500) Firmware 2.FA (11/12/2004 10:52:57 AM)

MadDog have released firmware 2.FA for their MD-16XDVD9 (OEM NEC ND-3500).
Write strategies, according to NecDump:
CD-R: 1.24
CD-RW: 1.24
DVD-R: 1.37
DVD-RW: 1.33
DVD+R: 1.56g
DVD+RW: 1.37
DVD+R9: 1.24r

Only DVD+R9 strategy has been updated from 1.24g to 1.24r

These strategies are older than ones in official NEC 2.18 firmware:
CD-R: 1.25
CD-RW: 1.24
DVD-R: 1.40
DVD-RW: 1.35
DVD+R: 1.58g
DVD+RW: 1.37
DVD+R9: 1.26

Maybe the only difference is that RitekD01 DL support is corrected... Who can confirm ?

It has the same DVD+R9 write strategy that TDK 2.C8 firmware which is said to support Ritek DL at 4x.

Can anyone confirm that this firmware has DVD+RW bitsetting?

SilentBob -> RE: MadDog MD-16XDVD9 (NEC ND-3500) Firmware 2.FA (11/14/2004 12:51:06 PM)

It seems pretty much exactly like 2C8 with the exception of the change from DVD+R from 1.55t in the 2C8 to 1.56g and the addition of +RW bitsetting.

I wish it had the newer strategies from the official NEC 2.18 but I guess I'll just have to wait for a TDK version to get the new strategies with bitsetting.

Yeap as it seems so...

Chamelion -> RE: MadDog MD-16XDVD9 (NEC ND-3500) Firmware 2.FA (5/31/2005 7:35:40 PM)

I have this DVD R9 in my system.  But when I use 8x discs, I get a max 4x... with a 16x disc, I get 8x max

Any reason>?

yes, update your firmware or use a hacked firmware to enabled higher writing speeds
