jrouer -> BTC 4816IM to 5224IM??? (2/5/2003 6:33:20 PM)

Has anyone figured out whether or not this is possible yet, and if so, how? I know you can use MTKFLASH on the drive, but I don't have a 5224 bin to test with.

We could rip it for you [:)]

Could you "rip" it for me too? The overclock wont be possible, but I'd like the firmware for my collec.

dhc014 -> RE: BTC 4816IM to 5224IM??? (2/6/2003 5:28:31 AM)

Sweet, I didn't even notice that the Teacs had MTK chips...

john -> RE: BTC 4816IM to 5224IM??? (2/6/2003 11:32:27 PM)

There seems to be a problem with the new TEAC 48X & 52X drives. The MTKFlash 1.55 version doesn't recognize the board type and while makes the bin file, i don't know if those bins are correct or not. Any idea(s)?

Maybe you have to readout the two banks separately like:
"mtkflash X r /a0 /b filename.bin" and "mtkflash X r /a1 /b filename.bin" one after the other. What command did you try before? If you're adverntuous, try using the bins to flash your drive and see what happens...

john -> RE: BTC 4816IM to 5224IM??? (2/7/2003 10:14:08 AM)

The usual one, mtkflash R /B /M x.bin

oki i will try reading each bank seperatly to one file, how many banks those new mediatek boards include?

dhc014 -> RE: BTC 4816IM to 5224IM??? (2/7/2003 11:25:13 PM)

I don't know. It depends...

john -> RE: BTC 4816IM to 5224IM??? (2/8/2003 4:58:28 PM)

Ok, we ripped the firmware of both the TEAC 4816 and TEAC 5524 using either the merge or each bank settings, check them here http://www.cdrinfo.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8869

Did anyone successfully flash a 4816IM into 5524IM? I try the firmware posted by John. It isn't recognized by Windows after the falsh, I have to flash it back to 4816.

Using MTKFlash under DOS could restore your drive back to its original state

Michael Lee -> RE: BTC 4816IM to 5224IM??? (2/13/2003 3:26:51 AM)

Mtkwinflash also works to restore it back to 4816IM. Thanks John to go through the trouble to rip 0012.bin for us.

Thund3rman -> RE: BTC 4816IM to 5224IM??? (2/13/2003 2:18:28 PM)

I tried flashing 5224 firmware onto my BTC4816IM using mtkwinflash, but it didn't worked. Flashing went ok, but the drive was not recognised by windows. After that, i tried to flash back to the 4816 firmware (482S) using mtkflash in dos, but i, by mistake, flashed an incomplete file. No i can't flash anything to the drive... I get an error all the time... Mtkflashwin doesn't even see the drive.

What i mean is... My drive is dead... I can't reflash it back to the original version. Can anyone tell me where i can find a firmware made with mtkflash so that i can use my drive again?

Can anyone help???
