I hate when this happen... but it's happening too often. You start reading a message or writing one... and lo and behold, you're logged as guest! If you were trying to post message, it's lost now. If you were reading, login in another window may keep you loosing your reading order.

Better solution? How about a bit longer time before login (cookie?) expires, please?

you forgot some details like what browser are you using. why not check the box stay logged in so you wont time out[;)]

Indeed, this forum is version is somewhat unstable.
We will upgrade it during next week.

Never noticed that kind of dropout myself...

My usual gripes is losing the new message indications while composing a reply - at pretty well EVERY forum, if you take a moment to search for an answer.

Browser used is IE 6.0.2800.1106 etc.
Oh, and I did check the box you mentioned.
Tried also without checking it... so I was able to compare results: Zero difference!

If I would spend more time composing this message, posting it would not work.
That means I have to keep my replies short and edit them afterwards.

Oh, yeah... and after timeout all new messages I've not had time to read yet, becomes marked old...

Generally all other forums I participate have longer timeout periods, so this kind of behaviour is rare with them. Maybe it's poor configurability of forum software or something mysterious? [;)]

Add-on:

Had just a while ago timeout striking, while composing reply in other area of board. Looks like some times timeout cuts in sooner than other times, because I wrote only about same amount of text as it's in this message! [:(]

Actually... this message has MORE text and I keep even pauses while writing, so something is not right! Only way to win "timeout killer" is to copy message before OK'ing... and if everything break apart, log in and use paste to rewrite all! Not good...

Edit: No timeout at this time - even while I wrote much more than when timeout hit me earlier. [8|]

I have to say that some "features" of this board are really nerve pressuring!
Either board went haywire at my last login (about 2pm GMT+2), while writing a reply to PM, or...
At least this time i remained logged in (Edit: ...but my last read pointers were gone)!

I would really like one neat feature, which I would call (without better term) "Login Bookmark".
If (or actually when) login expires OR board bombs up, I could recall one (of the) earlier "bookmark", I.E. time when I logged in and it would reset "new messages after last login" pointer to that point. Every time I log in, the board would update my (let's say last 3 of them?) and I could access my bookmarks via "My Profile". I'm bad in explaining things, so hopefully this makes any sense...

That would most likely fix all my troubles with current board software.
Until I find more to whine? [8D]

sp -> RE: Timeouts? (11/28/2004 6:44:28 PM)

I apologize for any inconvenience we have caused to our readers lately.

We had some problems related to some software configurations which have affected this board as well.
Now things seem to have been corrected.

This board version is indeed somewhat unstable. We had not enough free time to upgrade it recently. I hope we will be able to do it in the coming week.

Again, sorry for any trouble we have caused you...

Cooler -> RE: Timeouts? (11/29/2004 7:25:41 AM)

No probs, sp... but it's a bit of a annoyance. Login timeout strikes only while using the board, so perhaps I should take a little break... or just shut up? [:D]

The only way you can help us to provide a smoother user experience while browsing this site is by openly expressing your own opinion!
Whatever this can be!

We have made some adjustments recently, so things should be better now.
As we will be continuing some hardware upgrades the coming days, there will be, ocasionally, some problems again.

In any case, please let us know here about these or other problems...

Cooler -> RE: Timeouts? (12/4/2004 1:58:16 AM)

Ok, I promise to yell each and every hiccup. Well... perhaps not, but if timeout problem or something serious hits. [;)]
