Did you set DVD-ROM booktype before the slow format on a DVD+RW ?

Exactly. Slow format produces blank DVD+RW which is ready to burn and is booktyped as DVD+RW. It's not -RW.
Don't know if it's an error, but DVDInfoPro formatting routine immediatelly shows 100% progress and "Complete" message, then formatting starts from the beginning and continues normally.

I have set DVD-ROM booktype permanently for all "+" media just after flashing this firmware.

This is not really a problem while new +RW disks work OK, I'm just curious about this situation.

Try to format slowly with Nero.

Hi! I'm an italian boy and i have the NEC 2510A (OEM) with version firmware 2.06! Help me because I have the DVD+R DL Traxdata support (Ritek) and no work! Why? But there are new firmware available for this product? Help me!

Yep, I have one 2510 with Herries 2.16 firmware, and when I record Ritek DL the results are very bad (fails to read on the recorder itself) so I think the drive is using the Verbatim strategy on Ritek discs , but with no good results.
I was hopping that the new MAD DOG 2.F7 firmware had a specific Ritek strategy, but the versions on DVD+R9 are the same :( !!
Well I don't know any commercially 8x recorder with Ritek DL Support is available!!!

hello all,firstly i have to say thats a great forum and site full of info.
ok my 2 quick questions:
1)this 2.F7 from MadDog enables the DVD-ROM bitsetting to both single and dual layer DVD+R as well as to DVD+RW? i also suppose that it has RPC1 and rip lock.
if it does then thats what i was looking for :)

2) can i apply it through the DOS flasher utility onto my NEC-2500 which currently has the 1.06 ,??(one of herrie's firmware that gives RPC1 & Rip Lock) it will enable DL capabilities and make it a NEC-2510 wont it?

1) I think it has DVD-ROM bitsetting for DVD+R, dunno about DVD+RW, for sure won't include RPC1+RipLock

2) You can use either DOS or windows flasher

thanks for the reply emperor.i decided to use herries 2k5107v2b5dl for now and will probably try this one as well.problem is i cant find DL discs for now.[&:]
you believe this 2f7 fw is better than herries?

2.F7 enables bitsetting for DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD+R9. But DVD+RW bitsetting worked only with brand new (not recorded) DVD+RW media for me.

Original version does not have RPC1 and Rip Lock, but there is patched version by The Dangerous Brothers which has everything you need. There are both DOS and Windows flashers there. The firmware can be found here: http://tdb.rpc1.org/#ND2510A (you need to flash 2510RPC1.BIN file in DOS or 2510RPC1.EXE in Windows).

Is there something in the Mad Dog 2.f8 firmware that could be transferred over to the Nec 2510 firmware as well?

I don't meed overspeed burning, but improved write strategies or similar.

2.F8 is for the 3500A model, not for the 2510A Halc[:)]

Yes I know, but the similarity of the writing strategies has already been noted between 2500 and 3500.

But I guess that means no :)
