SiliconFreak -> Google's GMail hacked! (8/7/2004 7:50:11 AM)

Software designed to exploit the much lauded GMail service has just been released this week. Aptly named "GMail Gack" the software performs Dictionary and Brute Force Attacks against a GMail email account. GMail is the much lauded web based email service currently being beta tested by thousands of individuals on behalf of Google.

The developers are an Australian based hacking group, that have developed the software to be simple to use, enabling anyone, not simply ardent hackers to follow a three step process to cracking/hacking into a users account. Google has already fought back having instigated a Visually-Oriented Anti-Robot Test. The test identifies IP adress making multiple login attempts against an account and then kicks in with additional 'tests' to be completed which disables the software.
