Microsoft has launched a test version of a web-based MSN Messenger client that allows users to connect to the instant messaging (IM) service without installing a client application.

The beta version comes a week after Microsoft accidentally gave a sneak preview of the web-based IM client.

The company removed the pages hosting the web messenger on an MSN test website after the service attracted attention from MSN Messenger enthusiasts and the media.

It works really well for people in a work enviroment.

#1 - it doesn't break "don't leave the firewall" rules some places have
#2 - It's *MUCH* easier to hide from bosses! [sm=matrix05-coolemoticons.gif]

Hey Dolphinius_Rex...

Since I AM the Boss...I wonder exactly the opposite...how to find those employers that are using this service while they supposed to earn me big $$$ so I could pay monthly rate for my Ferrari 360 F1 Modena and extend my vacation here in Vegas!?? Any idea? Please hurry...next rate to be paid expires at 15.8. and I am still some 2500$ short of that!!! :-)))))))))

Need to go back to Casino now...maybe I win some BIG Jackpot.

CIAO RAGAZZI.

Will ICQ follow by offering a comparable feature ? (or is already one avialable?)

T3TRISizer -> RE: Microsoft Starts Web Messenger Trial (8/7/2004 1:24:27 PM)

Sooner or later ICQ would need to follow Microsoft's MSN service if they would like to keep their users satisfied to the limit [:D], but until now, no news in that way came by my ears [:)]

Will keep You informed if somethings change in that area...and am also calling others to speak LOUD, if someone knows anything about it!?[;)]

Yes, T3TRISizer...do that...ASAP! [8D]

Because I also wonder about that, but couldn't find more on that issue so far. [8|]

Two things bug me about it:

#1: When you have the conversation window minimized to do something else, and the person replies, it doesn't flash, or let you know there has been a reply in any way (it might play a sound? I don't know, I keep my sound off at work :P)

#2: It continues to have little pop up windows to tell you when someone goes on or off line, and this can expose your actions to potential management staff behind you [&:]
