astra -> Acer Ferrari One notebook on the starting grid. (9/14/2009 4:40:52 AM)

Let's be honest, some people will buy anything with the Ferrari logo slapped on top, so it doesn't really matter what we say about the Acer Ferrari One notebook. But the rest of you? Well, you might just want to sit back and have a think about it, although this latest Acer supercar tie-in doesn't pack the premium price tag you might expect.

That's probably because the Acer Ferrari One isn't really a premium model. Don't get us wrong, it isn't a bad little laptop, but in computing terms, it's more family runaround than highly-tuned rich man's plaything.

In terms of specifics, that equates to a dual-core AMD Athlon X2 L310 1.2GHz CPU and 2GB of memory, along with an 11-inch screen and graphics courtesy of an ATI Radeon HD 3200 GPU, whuich should be more than enough to race around the net and get your home essentials done and dusted. There's also a 250GB hard drive, multi-format memeory card reader and Wi-Fi, with Bluetooth and 3G as optional extras.

Some chiclet-style keys and a multi-touch mousepad add a little novelty, but under that glossy red or black finish, the Acer Ferrari One is pretty standard stuff. So just as well it comes at a fairly standard price, from around £393 when it hits the shelves in late October.
