Optiarc AD-7170A Firmware (Full Version)

dhodson2004 -> Optiarc AD-7170A Firmware (2/16/2008 3:28:28 PM) Hi. My DVD burner has not been reading discs that great lately. I figured that I'd update the firmware. I went to the manufacturer's website to download the firmware. There are two different ones for this drive. One is  for a AD-7170 P-ATA, and the other is for a AD-7170 S-ATA. The System information only says, Optiarc DVD RW AD-7170A ATA. Not sure which one I need. Also, what is the easiest/safest way to update it? Thanks.

SithTracy -> RE: Optiarc AD-7170A Firmware (2/17/2008 10:00:23 AM) I guess the first thing to do is remove the side panel from your computer case and take a look.  I don't own the drive so I can't be for sure... but the firmware update utility should not allow you to update the wrong drive type...
