Hey I just bought True Crimes Streets Of LA and I tried to make a backup copy of it and when i did it wouldn't play on my ps2 using the swap disk method.Anyone know whats the problem.?

I am using a dvd+r/rw burner and dvd+r discs.Also I tried making a backup copy of NFL Streets i tried using a dvd+rw disc.but when i put it into the ps2 using the swap method it didn't work.Is it incompatible on dvd+rw's?But on Tru Crimes i'm using dvd+r disc.

The truth is that ps2 is more compatible with the -r format.
I believe although that the compatibility of your console depends on the model of it reader.
To be sure that the discs your are recording the games are ok for your console just write a game that you have already backup successfully before on a media you currently own.
I have heard a lot of people complaining about ea sports games incompatibility since the ps1 console.
Just keep in mind that the -r format is the most compatible and finally check the link that i posted before for swap magic fixes

ok now my computer has a _nec + dvd burner/cdburner dual drive and it wont read -r.thats where my problem is.also on that site what do i do.I heard of a cdloader that i burn to a disc and if so what kinda of disc i'm really confused right now.

i just told you i'm using dvd+r,but right now i'm using dvd+rw and it won't read it.Also is there a way for my dvd burner to read dvd-r disks because when i look at it it says _nec+dvd burner.

It "should" read DVD -R discs, but it won't write them, and most users have reported that the -R format is "more compatable" with the PS2....

You can use Nero CD-DVD Speed to see what the capabilities are of your drive, as far as reading, or DVD Info Pro, or a number of other utilities, I think perhaps it will read DVD-R, but this is not certain, but it definately will not write them, and this is the key for compatability for writing successful backups of PS2...

dang and these burners are expensive.but i didn't pay attention to that sign i noticed that it said + but never saw the -or_ sign.so i guess i'm jacked so does anyone know where i can get a good dvd-burner at a low price cause all i have is 200 dollars.

Do you have a Circuit City near you? You can pickup the I/O Magic 4X DVD +/- R format (Optorite Rebadged) drive for around 149.00 with a rebate from I/O Magic. But don't count on the rebate from I/O Magic, I have four of them pending from last year and they say they have ever received them... yeah RIGHT!!!! But the drive is worth 149.00 that you have to pay up front...

Dude go to newegg.com and get your self a lite-on 411/451 don't get the 811 I hear that there are problem with it. Or you can wait for the 8125 which is 8x +r/-R should come out in a month
