Antheo -> About Review of LaCie d2 DVD and firmware update (2/12/2005 7:41:57 PM)

Hi,

At page 13 of the review of the LaCie d2 DVD+/- RW Recorder
http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Reviews/Specific.aspx?ArticleId=9967&PageId=13

it is said:
quote:

However, we contacted Lacie and we were informed that LaCie will release a new firmware version in the next couple of weeks, that will have the DVD-ROM bitsetting as default, improved DL write strategies, and add support for more media. This shows that LaCie is "hearing" users' demands for DVD-ROM booktype support... Very clever approach by LaCie.

However six months after the review I cannot find any information about a release of a new firmware on the LaCie website (http://www.lacie.com/support/drivers/index.htm) or on the web.

Do you have any news about firmware release ? Is the firmware of the current model still 2.04 ?

In the same page it is said "LaCie d2 DL drive doesn't officialy support BookType Setting for DVD+R/+RW formats."
Does it mean that DVD burned with this driver are not playable on most standard DVD player ?

Thanks.

Well you can use any firmware from NEC 3500 to flash your drive and benefit

this drive is based on a NEC 2510A. Is the firmware for NEC 3500 really working on this drive ?

So, should we understand that LaCie has not released another firmware as specified in the review ?
